BioBrew addresses the growing issue of organic waste in landfills, as they release methane, a greenhouse gas. Organic waste, like coffee grounds, is often not disposed of properly, in which they anaerobically decompose in landfills. For coffee ground waste specifically, the amount of waste has increased significantly over the years, as coffee consumption has been a rising trend. BioBrew aims to divert coffee grounds from landfills by upcycling them into bioplastic cups, to promote circular reuse and lessen negative impacts on the environment.
